A video from one of my favourite movies ever.
The soundtrack is by AR Rahman, the same guy who made the music for Slumdog Millionaire (Jai Ho!!) and it’s a duet between him and Lata Mangeshkar (the first lady of Indian music).
It’s like a dialogue between a mother and her son that presumably has died. The mother asks him where he is, she’s tired of this hide-and-seek game he’s playing with her. He tells her about what a beautiful place he’s found; there’s sunshine and nice shadows where he rests and he’s like a kite that’s able to fly freely… It’s so much better here, really.
And 2:33 basically kills me when he says: “well yes, I have everything here, it’s perfect… if it weren’t for the fact that it feels so lonely without you Mom” and it’s so amazing and I die even though I don’t understand that much Hindi but yes.
